Monday: We took the intensive course final. It wasn't too difficult but I would say that I definitely had my doubts on some of the answers. The test was divided into 4 parts: listening, reading, grammar, and oral. The listening part was kind of hard because the people had weird accents and it was nothing like what I was used to, not even like the Andalusian accent. The reading part was pretty straight forward. It was different then those in the US, because the options were: true, false, or not mentioned. Grammar was the easiest, we also had to pretend like we were writing a letter to a friend. For the oral portion, if you talked a lot during the class then you were put into a group of 3, and if you were quiet then you had an individual meeting. I was put in a group and Emilio wasn't even paying attention, he was just on his computer. After 5 minutes, he told us we could leave.
Tuesday: First day of class
My first class is at 8:30 and is called "Civilización y Cultura Española." The teacher is a dude who's pretty cool I would say. That class gets done at 10:30 and then I have a 2 hour break until 12:30 when "Cultura Islámica en España" starts. That teacher is a lady and has a thick ass accent. There's a shit ton of people in that class and I hope a good number of them drop. The classrooms are small and if you have 30 people, it just doesn't work.
Wednesday: I start out at 8:30 with "Variedades del español." The teacher for that seems like she'll have her bitchy moments but for the most part, she's cool.
After that class I go straight to "Producción Oral y Escrita" which I call POE for short. The teacher for POE is named Pilar. She seems really fun and has a shit ton of energy. I sat next to this girl named Avery, and she was nice and funny. There's only one guy in that class, poor thing.
Right after POE I go to "Historia de España (desde franco hasta la actualidad)" which is like modern or contemporary history. That teacher is the "bomb dot com" has Chia would say. She told us that we could eat in that class and bring food if we wanted to. The class starts at 12:30 which is lunch time and she said she hates having class at that hour. She also said that if we felt like we needed to get up and stretch at any time that we could leave the room, take a stroll and come back in. She's very laid back and chill.
For the most part, the classes should be good, and I hope that I chose ones that aren't too difficult. After this week, we can't drop or change any so knock on wood that I have no problems. Which I'm sure I won't. I just don't want to struggle with any material.
This weekend I am going to Málaga with Callie. Should be fun! I'm excited. The bus leaves at 4, and I finished packing at like 11:20. I still have to go to the bank and get some euros but that takes like 2 seconds. I have to eat when I get back from class. And then I'm meeting Callie on her street or nearby at least. She lives so far, it's a 30 min walk!! I don't mind walking I just don't want to be late or anything. Alrighty, off to go charge my phone and then to class
Stay classy kids!
With love,
TIZ
