As we were walking away, we came across this man singing with some machine that he was turning. I asked my dad how it works and he explained it to me but I wanted to know the details of the machine. My dad being the person that he is started talking to him after he was done and asked him. The guy unscrewed the top off and opened it up to show us and gave an in-depth explanation. Made more sense that way.
As you can see the paper has holes cut in it and the guy turns a handle that let's air through. The holes allow a note to receive the air and the air travels to the pipes and lets out the sound. His machine has 27 notes. He also told us that he's been doing it for a shit ton of years, the exact number I don't remember and it's his only job. He also makes the little booklets himself which means hat he cuts the wholes out himself.
My dad and I split up since I was going to meet my friend Alex. He studied at Illinois state for a year as a study abroad student but he lives in France. I took the metro to meet him and I saw him when I walked out but casually walked up to him and he turned around and told me I was late. RUDE! It was onl 10 minutes and it's the metro's fault, not mine. But I gave him a hug anyways, after la bise. We went to Saint-Michel where we were going to meet another friend of his. We talked on our way there on the subway and while we were waiting on the bridge.
When his friend Justine finally came we went on a walk around the cathedral. And inside too.
Afterwards we walked to Hotel de Ville. Where they had set up an ice skating rink.
There's Alex hahaha.
We ended up staying until it got dark. Just watching people ice skating. The good and the bad.
About an hour and a half later, we walked to Place des Vosges.
Where there was a lady singing opera music. At first I thought it was a CD playing. Until I heard clapping. Then I rushed out of the park because I wanted a picture and a video.
I had told my dad that I was going to be back between 6:30 and 7. And it was nearing 6 when the they 2 decided to head back. So we walked to the metro stop St. Paul. Inside we said bye. I have Alex another hug and but he seemed embarrassed. I called him out on it and he told me hugs aren't typical in France. And I said I don't care because I haven't seen him in so long and it's a way to show endearment and that you care. Then he said okay, and gave me a hug.
I walked a little further and started hearing classical music. I followed the music, but it was also in the direction I had to go.. I came across this musical group just chilling in the metro doing their thing and strumming their instruments.
It sounded really pretty since the metro has really good acoustics.
I forgot to mention how the only thing metro's make me think of is the movie Chronicles of Narnia, the Prince Caspian version. I think that's why his name was? With the hot actor who has brown hair and brown eyes and he's just attractive. Yeah. But back to the metro.. It's the scene where the kids are in the subway and then the white tiles slowly peel off the walls and then they're sanding on the beach in Narnia. That's what metro stations remind me of.
